Each soluble tablet for 51-100 lbs of dogs kills heartworm larvae (microfilaria) and prevents new infections for one month. Nuheart is only effective against immature (larval stage) heartworms within 30 days of infection. Nuheart Red for Large Dogs is not effective against adult heartworms.
